Dear Fellow Alumni,
In this, the 200th year of our College, the relationships between faculty and students remain at the core of a Hamilton education. Our personal academic growth is a common denominator we all share as alumni. When we left the Hill, we did so prepared to speak, think and write as cogently and articulately as the best-trained people we’ve met since.
I mentioned in a previous letter that the campus community celebrated alumni philanthropy on February 23 — the day when revenue from the Annual Fund and endowment began to pay the balance (35 percent) of the College’s operating costs for the year. A campus poster read, “Without the Annual Fund, the 9:1 student faculty ratio would be 13:1.” This translates to 63 fewer professors and, as a result, fewer intimate relationships between mentors and undergraduates. Your gifts to the Annual Fund ensure that a demanding, personalized education remains a lasting part of the Hamilton experience. Please give as you are able. The fiscal year closes soon.
